Every American obtain health insurance or face substantial tax penalties?

A key component of the health care plan released by Max Baucus (D-MT) on September 16 is a legal requirement that nearly every American obtain health insurance or face substantial tax penalties.——->>> In effect, the Baucus plan would tell the working poor: "If you have been choosing between food and health insurance, you no longer have that choice. You must buy the health insurance, and we will decide what kind of health insurance you will buy and how much you will pay for it."

it is a first step to being a socialist country.

These are "senior accountants at National Corporations" like the ones at Lehman Brothers that reported good health right before they collapsed?? You need to be a little less trusting and don’t believe everything you HEAR. It;s in their interest to exaggerate their "estimations".

Lol! You know, what’s funny is that I made the prediction last week that people will have health care but that they will starve to death due to a lack of jobs due to the massive taxes that business will have to take on. How’s that Health Care working for ya? :)

The corporations are reporting these one time charges because a subsidy they previously received tax free from the Federal Government is now being taxed. They are still receiving substantial federal money to maintain prescription drug benefits for their retirees.
The new law will benefit those who can’t afford to buy health insurance and don’t receive it from their employer. These people will now be able to afford a private health insurance plan that allows them to see a doctor before they get deathly ill and go to an emergency room, where those with insurance (or the taxpayer) will pay for his or her care anyway.

These companies are paying because they are losing a tax deduction. Currently, these companies recieve 1300 per retiree per year. Before the Affordable Care Act, the business could deduct this subsidy on their tax return. After the Affordable Care Act, these businesses still receives the subsidy and they cannot deduct it now. Affordable Care Act lessenes corporate welfare.

"Small businesses will now pay a penalty of $2,000 per worker if they do not offer health care coverage"
Not all smalll business are affected. The business needs to have 50 or more workers and the penalty only applies when the worker uses individual tax credit for health insurance.

"Medicare drug plan will cost 11% more"
The article is from Nov. 2009. These increases were going to happen regardless of the passage of the Affordable Care Act.

"Health care reform opens the door to an increase in civil litigation and possibly higher insurance costs."
The acticle is reporting the fear, instead of the fact. If individual buy their own insurance, there is no reason for a tort on benefits.

Welcome back from the coma you’ve been in since September!

As everyone who’s been awake all this time knows, people who can afford health insurance will get subsidies, AND the fines for refusing to get coverage are small.

The law that was finally passed will SAVE many trillions over time.

It will also prevent needless suffering and deaths of millions of citizens, prevent yet more millions from loosing their homes because someone in their family gets sick.

I know the idea of preventing needless bankrupcies, suffering, and deaths are anathema to wing-nuts, but most Americans are HUMAN BEINGS who have both a BRAIN and a HEART.

It’s funny how I never hear people like you complain about having to buy car insurance, and the government does not offer subsidies to help pay for that! Your mortgage company makes you buy home insurance, and again, no help from the government. So, let me get this straight, you don’t have a problem with being "forced" to buy insurance, as long as it has nothing to do with saving a life.

Maybe you need to get your priorities straight.
