Did McCain’s vote for the Bailout make him a Socialist and a Liar?

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

Reall I’d like to know why this vote did not make McCain a Socialist and a Liar?

Liar – While discussing the $700 bailout bill being talked about in Congress this past week, John McCain said,

"It is completely unacceptable for any kind of earmarks to be included in this bill. It would be outrageous for legislators and lobbyists to pack this rescue plan with taxpayer money for favored companies. This simply cannot happen."

It did. And he voted for it anyway.

$2 million excise tax exemption on "certain wooden arrows designed for use by children."

$49 million in tax breaks for people (in Alaska, mostly) receiving compensation from the litigation over the Exxon Valdez oil spill.

$100 million in tax breaks for "certain motorsports racing track facilities."

$179 million in tax incentives for "investment in the District of Columbia."

$49 million for a charitable deduction for corporations who donate books to libraries.

$33 million for an economic development credit in American Samoa.

$61 million in added credits for "steel industry fuel" also known as liquefied coal waste sludge.

$397 million for the "domestic production activities deduction" for film production

$81 million to extend and modify treatment of "certain film and television productions."

McCain also claims – "I will veto every bill with earmarks, until the Congress stops sending bills with earmarks,"

So, why did he vote for this socialist emark laden bill? Liar.

Socialist – If you actually know what socialism is you understand that neither candidate is a soicalist. But since it seems to be the next mud to be slung by McCain I’d like to hear your thoughts. This bailout bill was the most socialist thing I’ve seen in my lifetime for sure, and most would agree.

Yes, I know Obama voted for it as well but since you republicans already believe Obama is a socialist and a liar that is irrelevant.

Yeah, I always wonder why they call Obama a socialist, when their own candidate is the same way. I guess it’s kind of like pretending John Kerry was not a war hero and Bush was not a cheerleader – alternative/republican reality.

how far back can the irs audit you?

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

I was told you can be audited from the irs up to 3 years, is that true?

The 3 yr limit pertains to errors on your return. If those errors involve an action / item that was first reported years ago, the the audit can go back as far as the original report date of the action / item.
Fraud, Tax Evasion, Understatement of Income, etc. can cause the audit to go back as far as needed to resolve the problem.
If you are due a refund from a period longer than the 3 yr limitation, you will NOT receive it. You can be forced to pay taxes and penalties from the Ice Age, but you can only receive a refund if it is within the 3 yr limit.

Government Deals Drugs then Terrorizes Families for Using them

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

While the U.S. federal government has been waging a phony and hypocritical “war on drugs” as an easy way to increase repression in inner cities and confiscate millions of dollars in private assets through unconstitutional forfeiture laws in order to fund its burgeoning police state, it has also been an active participant in the illegal drug trade, using public resources to bring heroin and cocaine into American inner cities at least since the 1960′s.

Sound like paranoia? In fact, this information has been confirmed by scholars and researchers throughout the past three decades. Any honest scholar that has researched the issue will tell you that this is the truth, but you will find very little information about it in the mainstream mass media. The most recent scandal involved the Central Intelligence Agency selling crack cocaine in South Central Los Angeles in order to fund the U.S. covert war against the people of Nicaragua.

The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, as is by now well-known by anyone who has cared to be informed, has long been deeply involved in the international trafficking of the addictive drugs heroin and (since the early 1980s, if not earlier) cocaine, the enormous profits from which have financed, and continue to finance, both U.S. covert operations and the U.S. military (via payments to Pentagon contractors).

The main reason why this is not more widely known is that the main players in the U.S. media have always worked to protect the Agency and to keep the American public in the dark as to the nature of its activities (as documented in great detail in Carl Bernstein’s article in the October 20, 1977, issue of Rolling Stone: “The CIA and the Media: How America’s Most Powerful News Media Worked Hand in Glove with the Central Intelligence Agency and Why the Church Committee Covered It Up”).

Because (some) drugs are illegal, there are huge profits to be made in supplying them to those who want or need them. Legalization would eliminate the enormous profits now being made and would provide a social context in which education concerning the use of drugs was not only respectable but also a social obligation. In the meantime the “War on Drugs” works only to keep (some) drugs illegal and to maintain the profits of the traffickers.
